Funeral Service Information

Cancer is so limited...

It cannot cripple love
It cannot shatter hope
It cannot corrode faith
It cannot destroy peace
It cannot kill friendship
It cannot suppress memories
It cannot silence courage
It cannot invade the soul
It cannot steal eternal life
It cannot conquer the spirit.

Her legacy
A Woman of Valor

Tola Okoya-Thomas passed Septmber 2006. She was an unassuming, remarkable woman. Prepared by her family, education, and personality for a life committed to love, fairness, and peace. Her remarkable partnership with Ayodeji resulted not only in 2 beautiful children, but in a life devoted to the highest values of human dignity.

Born and raised in Lagos, Nigeria, Tola graduated from FGGC Shagamu. She received a Bachelors in Computer Information Systems from Georgia State University and Kennesaw State University in Atlanta, Georgia, and then went on to pursue her MBA at Keller Graduate School, where she specialized in Project Management. Having worked for several prestigious firms, she went on to work for oil servicing firm Schlumbeger in Lagos, Nigeria. While in Nigeria she met Ayodeji Okoya-Thomas through a mutual friend. They were married in December 2005, took up residence in Ikoyi, Lagos, and had twins in 2006, with Tola assuming the many functions of a wife, mother, and professional.

Always close to her family, Tola was blessed with 3 sisters and 3 brothers.

Many have described Tola as “larger than life,” but that misses the point. The otherwise diminutive Tola was a truly selfless individual, always willing to reach out to others with her smile and a hand of hope. She truly believed in living by example. That is the key to understanding her awesome legacy. It is a living legacy that we are committed to honor by helping to pass it on.
